Healey is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Christopher Newport University in Virginia. He received his PhD in sociology and anthropology from the University of Virginia. An innovative and experienced teacher of numerous race and ethnicity courses, he has written articles on minority groups, the sociology of sport, social movements, and violence, and he is also the author of Statistics: A Tool for Social Research (10th ed., 2014). Eileen O’Brien is an Assistant Professor at SUNY-Brockport where her teaching and research interests range from introductory sociology to courses on race, ethnicity, gender, social class and theory. She authored Whites Confront Racism (Rowan and Littlefield, 2001) and has co-authored White Men on Race (Beacon Press, 2003) with Joe Feagin, a pre-eminent scholar on race and ethnic relations. She received her Ph.D. from the U.of Florida in 1999 M.A. from Ohio State in 1996; both degrees in sociology.
