Product Description Often lost in the focus on the rights possessed by criminal suspects has been the notion that law enforcement officers themselves possess rights. Those rights are often ill understood and sporadically applied. This book is designed to be a comprehensive review of the rights of law enforcement officers. The book is designed for the layperson, yet contains the supporting case law and statutory citations necessary to make it a reference tool for attorneys. The new edition of our classic title will introduce new chapters on the Brady rule and on the arbitration of discipline. The chapter on free speech will now include a section on social media. About the Author Mr. Aitchison is a Portland, Oregon attorney who has, over the course of his career, represented over 100 law enforcement and firefighter labor organizations in five western states. He is a veteran of hundreds of public sector labor negotiations. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. and is the author of several books on public sector labor matters, including The Rights of Law Enforcement Officers (7th Edition), and The Rights of Firefighters (4th Edition).
